In UK they have different system for hip scores than in many other european countries. For both hip they calculate a value which is in range of 0 to 53. Sum of these values can thus be anything between 0 to 106. The smaller the number the better. For golden retrievers the average in UK is 18, so Doole's 12 (6+6) is clearly better than average. Information about hip score values was found from these sources A Guide for Dog Owners and List of the current Breed Mean Scores. Also Doodle's eye check is clear and elbows are 0/0.
Based on results from previous litter, Mindy seems to leave even and good quality what comes to hips and elbows. From seven puppies four were tested and three of them had A/A hips and one A/B. All had clear eyes and elbows are 0/0.
In addition to good health records we wanted to see Doodle in real life. At the end of September 2008
we visited Catcombe kennel with Lorna.
Doodle was just as jolly chap as you could imagine from the pictures. When trotting he had a nice long stride.
But what else would you expect, after all he had become a GB champion just that year (2008).
It is also interesting to know that all of the Catcombe dogs are actually used for hunting. Therefore I'm putting my
hopes on these instincts getting passed to the puppies too.
For each dog there is only the plain official name. More details like titles, DOB etc. can be found via the link of that particular dog.
